Chrysler May be Looking for new Chinese Partner for Jeep Brand

Word has it that Chrysler may be looking for a new partner for Jeep in China. This partner would be different from the one currently used by Italian parent company Fiat SpA. A new partner, according to Chrysler, would help develop the Jeep brand in this country. James Hodge Motor Company is here to bring McKinney, Sherman and Greenville auto enthusiasts the latest updates.

Eventually, Chrysler wants to produce 100,000 new Jeep vehicles in China, which is part of Fiat's overall goal of selling 30,000 vehicles annually in China by next year.

Currently, Jeep sells three new Jeep models in China: the Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Jeep Wrangler, and the Jeep Compass. They are currently shipped from the U.S. and are subject to an import tariff; therefore, it's difficult for the company to sell them in large quantities.

Chrysler has thought about using Fiat's partner, Guangzhou Automobile Group Co.  However, Sergio Marchionne, the chief executive of both Chrysler and Fiat, explains why the brand may be looking for a different partner, stating, "We don't necessarily have to choose him (partner) to go ahead with Jeep," he told reporters on the margins of an event. We have the possibility to use two (partners)."1

As the automaker's plan begins to take shape and come to fruition, we invite you to follow along with our James Hodge Motor Company blog for the latest updates. Of course, you can also feel free to drop by and see us in Paris, TX any time during standard business hours.
